Waldeck appoints new managing director

As part of its strategy to continue the company’s strong growth and further improve its market position, Waldeck Engineering has appointed Fraser Mercer as its new managing director.

Fraser is a highly experienced construction professional and has a proven track record and nearly 30 years’ experience in design, project management, contracts, construction, business growth and management.

Prior to his appointment as Waldeck’s Managing Director, Fraser held a consultancy role with Waldeck to assist and support the company’s management team. He was previously Managing Director of a large regional contracting business that he grew to in excess of £100 million.

Fraser’s commercial experience and skill set will further strengthen Waldeck’s position in the marketplace as a client focused consultancy which possesses a broad capability set and offers more than the traditional advisory disciplines for successful construction project delivery.

Fraser also brings with him a considerable network of contacts and clients, particularly from the West Midlands region, which has already led to Waldeck securing new business opportunities. He says, “Waldeck is an exceptional business, and I’m proud to be the new Managing Director. My past experience has prepared me for this new challenge, and I plan on working tirelessly to further cement the Waldeck name as one of Britain’s top engineering companies.”

Waldeck, which won Consulting Engineer of the Year at the Builder & Engineer Awards 2011 and Peterborough Evening Telegraph Business of the Year, has offices in London, Northampton, Peterborough, Nottingham, Sheffield, Lincoln, Sleaford, Grimsby and Hull.

Founder and Director Paul Waldeck, who will now focus on key customer relationships, strategy and growth in all areas of the business, adds, “2011 has been the toughest year for the construction industry to date, but Waldeck has continued to prosper thanks to the hard work and commitment of our staff and our innovative approach to engineering.

“The recession has brought and will continue to bring about rigorous change in what the market needs. New firms are evolving and whilst traditional consultancies will always have a place, the most successful professional support services companies will be solutions-focused businesses with a diversity of skills and the expertise to deliver the client vision.”

“Waldeck has always been a very commercial, client-focused business and Fraser’s approach and expertise really will enhance the client experience with Waldeck.”
