Bourne schoolchildren name new Larkfleet development
Larkfleet Homes has named its new housing development in Bourne ‘Abbeyfields’ – with the help of pupils from Bourne Abbey Academy.
Larkfleet launched a naming competition for pupils at Bourne Abbey Academy at the end of last year and a group of four children, Bethany Mason, Nayana Thompson, Joel Wellard and Reegan Martin, came up with the winning name. The four winners were given Argos vouchers by Larkfleet Homes as a reward.
Abbeyfields will be located on Manning Road, on the old Co-op site, and will comprise two and three bedroom properties with prices starting at just £125,000. There will be 108 properties on the site in total including 33 affordable homes of which 13 properties will be offered through shared ownership and 20 through affordable rent. Larkfleet is marketing properties at Abbeyfields not only to first-time buyers but also to buyers who are looking to downsize and young families looking for a high quality new home.
Some properties on the Abbeyfields development will be available through the government-backed FirstBuy scheme. With the help of FirstBuy, homebuyers have the chance to take up a five-year interest-free loan meaning they could own a Larkfleet home sooner than they thought. Purchasing a Larkfleet property in Bourne could even be cheaper than renting a property with the help of FirstBuy.
Larkfleet is also offering a mortgage insurance guarantee scheme and its suite of Ezy initiatives to assist homebuyers as much as possible. Larkfleet’s Ezy initiatives can offer homebuyers help with selling their own property or part exchange deals. Through Larkfleet’s Ezy-give scheme, family and friends of first-time buyers who to contribute twenty per cent of the purchase price of a new property can get a five per cent return for five years after the purchase while homebuyers enjoy a smaller mortgage and a lower interest rate.
Abbeyfields will be situated in an existing residential area and is close to the town centre, Bourne’s secondary and primary schools and various sports facilities.

Work on the Abbeyfields development is scheduled to begin in March.
