Football fiction author coming to county

A popular children’s writer will be helping county kids get into the Olympic spirit with a series of free events in February.

As part of the Cultural Olympiad, author Tom Palmer will be appearing at libraries and mobile stops across the county during the February half-term.

The author of football fiction, such as the ‘Football Academy and ‘Foul Play’ series’, Tom also has an international reputation for his work in getting children interested in books.

Jonathan Platt, head of libraries and heritage, said: “We’re all excited about the Olympics and the torch coming to Lincolnshire. These library events encourage kids to give reading a go and build on this once-in-a-lifetime event. It’s also a great way to keep them entertained over the half-term holidays without breaking the bank.”

The events will take place at the following sites:

Wednesday 15 February – Sleaford Library (10am), Heckington mobile stop (2pm)

Thursday 16 February – Welton Library (11am), Bassingham mobile stop (2.30pm)

Friday 17 February – Horncastle Library (10am), Metheringham Library (1.30pm), Branston Library (3.30pm)
