The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra return to Scunthorpe
Following a wonderful performance in November, The Baths Hall has announced the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is to return to Scunthorpe on Thursday, 10 May.
Presenting a programme of all-time favourites, British conductor Simon Wright leads the Orchestra for Smetana’s sparkling Overture to The Bartered Bride, Sibelius’ atmospheric Finlandia and Beethoven’s immortal Symphony No.5, which begins with perhaps the most famous bars of classical music ever written. Rising star Alexandra Dariescu takes to the stage for the concert’s popular centrepiece – Grieg’s dramatic and lyrical Piano Concerto in A minor.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra made their debut in Scunthorpe in November as one of the first performers at North Lincolnshire’s newest and most exciting entertainment venue. Such was public demand for their performance the Orchestra is making a quick return to The Baths Hall.
Dan Harris, General Manager of The Baths Hall, said: “I am delighted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is to return to The Baths Hall just a few months after their last appearance. As anyone who attended their November show will remember, the Orchestra put on an incredible show and it will live long in the memory. A number of people spoke to me after the event asking when they would return and I am looking forward to hosting them again in May.”
Tickets, with prices starting at just £15, are on sale now from The Baths Hall Box Office or telephone 0844 854 2776.
There are a number of other exciting events taking place at The Baths Hall in the coming weeks. Scunthorpe-born artist Lee Coleman will be displaying his ‘Mr Faceless’ series of art from 30 January and rock musical American Anthems comes to town on 11 February. The Plowright Theatre has Let’s Hang On: The Music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons on 4 February. Wilton Productions present The Young Ones from 7 February until 11 February.
