Open cockpits at Newark Air Museum

The Newark Air Museum is hosting an extensive series of special events for the 2012 season, beginning with the half term Open Cockpit Week.

Running from Saturday 11th to Sunday 19th February, on each day during this period at least one aircraft cockpit will be open for inspection. Among those aircraft expected to be open are the Canberra B(I)8, the Shackleton and the Vulcan.

A small additional fee of 50p is charged to access the cockpit. The Museum is open daily 10am to 4pm, and regular updates about which cockpits will be open on each day will be posted on the museum website.

For this new season the museum trustees have introduced height restrictions for access to some aircraft as displayed on site. Initially this applies to the Vulcan and Buccaneer aircraft, which both have steep access ladders and anyone wishing to pay the additional 50p per person fee to go inside these aircraft will have to be at least one metre in height.
