WHAT'S ON
Farewell to The Hamsters in Lincoln
Blues rock band The Hamsters are coming to Lincoln as part of their farewell tour.
The Hamsters' music is bluesy, rocked-up Americana, yet they're also regarded as the UK's leading interpreters of the music of Jimi Hendrix & ZZ Top - which is fun to play. They're well established on the UK touring circuit and have a strong national following. The band are now into the last few weeks of their 25th year together, and will retire on the weekend of 31st March, 25 years to the day since they had our first rehearsal. As part of their farewll tour, they play at Lincoln Drill Hall on Saturday 3rd March.
Having performed 4500 concerts and with a national mailing list exceeding 20,000, the Hamsters are established as one of the UK’s premier live attractions, achieved purely by hard work, and with the band handling all their own affairs. Originally forming for their own amusement (and taking their name from the Sex Pistols, who once used it as a pseudonym to outwit hostile councils), the Hamsters enjoy the irony of being an aggressive band with a cuddly name. Although serious about what they do, they don’t take themselves too seriously. Members have performed with artists such as Eric Clapton, Alison Moyet, Doctor Feelgood, Walter Trout and the late, great gentleman of British Blues, Alexis Korner.
The show starts at 8pm and tickets are available from 01522 873894.
