Double commendation for Hickman Hill Hotel
The Hickman Hill Hotel with restaurant in Gainsborough has been highly commended for both the hotel and the restaurant in the Food & Drink Awards 2012.
The award was presented by Mary Powell of Select Lincolnshire & Taste of Lincolnshire in a star studded ceremony in Lincoln.
The owners Robert & Michelle Marsh have spent six and a half years promoting and improving the former grammar school which dates from 1795.
Robert Marsh who is the chef said ”To be awarded one award is superb, but two reinforces and underpins all the effort that we have lovingly put into the hotel”.
As one guest said recently on Trip Advisor ”We had the best rib-eye steaks we have eaten in this country...the chef actually knew how to cook a blue steak. The homemade marmalade was superb. Best food in a long time”
Gainsborough, although set in a rural environment; has a long industrial heritage. The town is renowned for its engineering expertise, packaging production and cottage industries. Although there is no actual connection with the world famous artist, the name alone provides a positive association coupled with being on the world famous River Trent.
