Popular housing support service relaunched
A successful housing support service in Louth is being re-launched on Wednesday 20th July.
For five years, East Lindsey District Council has run a housing support drop-in service at Trinity Church every Wednesday between 10.30am and 1pm.
The service provides advice and guidance to people who need support with their housing needs with a view to them becoming confident in areas such as managing their money to ensure bills can be paid.
The service also helps find volunteering opportunities for people who want to develop new skills and enables service users to meet others with similar housing difficulties.
The drop in can also be used by people who have general housing issues but are struggling to deal with the housing options they have been given and need additional advice.
Since the service started it has helped hundreds of local people and now the Council is inviting partner agencies to come along one Wednesday each month. This includes the Citizens Advice Bureau, Jobcentre Plus, Credit Union, The Community and Voluntary Service and Local Children’s Centres, which have all expressed an interest in attending so far.
Housing Project Officer, Rob Everitt, runs the session: “In recent months the number of people attending has dropped off because our clients have received the help and support they need to move on in their lives. We hope that by relaunching the sessions we can again raise the profile of what support is available to the community and encourage more people who need that advice and guidance to come along. You should never to be too proud to ask for help – we’re here and we want to give the community support.”
If you need support, would like more information on the service or are a support agency that would like to attend, please contact Rob Everitt on 01507 601111 or e-mail robert.everitt@e-lindsey.gov.uk
