Donington garden opens up to public

A traditional garden in Donington is to open up to the public.

The Hawthorns, home of Colin and Janet Johnson, opens for the second year for the National Garden Scheme on Sunday, June 19, from 11am to 4pm.

The garden is newly-created from fallow land with extensive herbaceous borders, a pond, a large old English rose garden, vegetable and fruit areas with a feature greenhouse. The garden also includes a cider orchard and an area housing rare breed animals, including pigs, sheep and chickens.

It can be found on Bicker Road.

Admission is £3.50, with children free.
