Boston energy plant to be expanded, despite complaints from locals
A green energy plant in Boston has been given the go-ahead to expand, despite the objections of many living in the area
Staples Vegetables Ltd put forward the proposal for a second anaerobic digestion tank as well as expansion to include a new metal container for a power generator. Used to turn waste vegetables into electricity, the proposal is considered in-line with the Government’s current pushes for renewable energy.
Despite this, many residents sent in letters of complaint to their local council, highlighting the impact the expansion would have on the countryside, including the visual impact, the noise, and the heavy smell given off by the plant.
Even with all these complaints from their very constituents, committee members at the Boston Borough Council unanimously agreed to the proposal, stating that the development “will not harm the area visually, or the character of the countryside.” They also stated that “The odour complaints are not applicable as it is a power generator and this is taken into account in the conditions.”
