Continental sights and sounds in Lincoln

Lincoln BIG is bringing a taste of Europe to the heart of the city.

From Easter onwards there are opportunities galore to enjoy a taste of the best from our cousins abroad, when Lincoln plays host to its ever-popular Continental Markets. Whether you love Italian paella, German sausages, French cheeses or leather bags, belts and basketwear, you’ll find it all on your doorstep – so why not treat yourself or a friend and make a real day out of it while you’re at it?

Lincoln provides a fabulous and atmospheric backdrop to visiting markets, which typically attract residents and visitors from miles around. European music also adds to the ambience of what are unmissable opportunities to enjoy a spot of European culture, without the worry of having to pack a suitcase and spend hours travelling.

Lincoln BIG has organised this year’s truly authentic markets in association with MarketPlaceEurope, which are experts in this field. The Continental Markets kick off with a three-day event on Friday 9th to Sunday 11th March, which ties in with the popular Discover Lincolnshire Weekend, which offers locals and visitors alike the chance to make the most of free entry to Lincoln’s most stunning attractions.

On Thursday 14th June, Continental Market traders return to Lincoln to set-up their stalls in the High Street and Cornhill areas for a four-day event, which runs until Sunday 17th June, while everyone has got their diaries out, another four-day Continental Market takes place in the High Street and Cornhill areas from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th October.

Lincoln BIG events and promotions manager Michael Armstrong says, “We are delighted to be bring a taste of the continent to Lincoln again this year. We are staging the markets in different parts of the city to ensure as many people as possible to spend time browsing and buying from the stalls, whether they are shopping or sightseeing in Uphill Lincoln or going about their business in the High Street.”
