Become breast cancer aware
Women in Lincolnshire are being encouraged to become breast aware as part of a nationwide scheme to raise breast cancer awareness.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is going to be displaying special information stands in each of the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centres at Lincoln, Grantham and Boston throughout breast cancer awareness month that runs throughout October.
Detecting breast cancer early can make treatment more effective and the Trust is encouraging women who have any concerns about breast cancer or who would like more information to come along to one of the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centres to speak to a member of the Macmillan team.
Jo Divver, Macmillan Breast Care Nurse Specialist, said: “October is a month for breast cancer charities to raise awareness of their work and of the disease, as well as reminding women to be breast aware for earlier detection.
“Throughout a woman’s lifetime it is natural for the breasts to go through changes. Knowing what changes to look for can allow for the speedy detection of breast cancer and also prevent unnecessary worry.”
There are three hospital-based Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centres within United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The centres are located at the Lincoln County Hospital Outpatient Department, Pilgrim Hospital in Boston at Main Reception and Grantham Hospital Outpatient Department.
