Macmillan service reaches out to community

Cancer patients, their friends, family and carers will be able to get information, advice and support at outreach sessions in their area.

Residents living in and around Woodhall Spa and Horncastle will benefit from information and support about cancer and caring for someone with cancer with new information sessions.

The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is to provide these sessions for the public, in conjunction with Lincolnshire County Council.

The sessions will be held on the 3rd Thursday of the month with the first session on:

17th November 2011

Horncastle library: 10am- 1pm

Woodhall Spa library: 2pm – 5pm

Macmillan cancer information nurses will be on hand with leaflets on a range of topics related to cancer for anyone who would like to take them away or discuss further.

Macmillan Information and Support Services Lead for ULHT, Caroline Boyer, said: “We have set up these different kinds of sessions to provide information and support to anyone affected by cancer including patients, carers, family or friends, or anyone who just wants to know more about cancer.

“Although we have three hospital based cancer information and support centres at hospitals in Lincoln, Boston and Grantham, we wanted to bring the service out to the Horncastle and Woodhall Spa areas to support the needs of local people,” she said.
