Walk your way to health after Christmas
After indulging in food over the Christmas season, get fit and healthy by taking part in the array of Walking the Way to Health walks.
Walking the Way to Health is an initiative that aims to encourage people to walk in their own community - the festive season is the perfect time to get started.
Being physically active on a regular basis can significantly improve your health and fitness, and walking is ideal for building exercise into your everyday life.
There is a wide range of Christmas and New Year walks across North Lincolnshire, such as:
Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre
Normanby Hall Country Park
North Lincolnshire Museum
Atkinsons Warren
Thornton Abbey
Glanford Park
Scawby Park
The Thornton Abbey three-mile walk on Tuesday 3 January 2012 is perfect for people wanting to start walking their way to health. It is a local history and storytelling walk, meeting in Thornton Abbey car park at 10am.
Other local history and storytelling walks include:
South Ferriby 2.75-mile walk on Monday 13 February 2012. Meeting in the car part at Ferriby Sluice, opposite the Hope and Anchor Pub, at 10am.
Far Ings 2.6-mile walk on Wednesday 4 April 2012. Meeting at Old Far Ings Visitor Centre (Ness Farm), Far Ings Road, Barton, at 10am.

All walks are led and supported by at least two trained volunteer walk leaders, one with first aid equipment.
Cllr John Briggs, cabinet member for Asset and Estate Management, Sport, Leisure and Culture, said: “I would encourage people to take part in the Walking the Way to Health walks. Christmas and New Year is the perfect time to get fit and healthy after the Christmas festivities.
