Sport

Become a Sport Maker

An inspirational workshop about the London 2012 Games will take place this month in Lincoln.

The workshop aims to inspire people to get involved with sport through volunteering and helping the local community. Whether you want to organise a football tournament for your friends or encourage your village to run a mini Olympic Games, this workshop could be for you.

The workshop is delivered through Sport Makers, a programme which aims to recruit new sports volunteers in the run up to the London 2012 Games and beyond.

Lizzie Couling, Workforce Development Manager at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “There are so many benefits of being a Sport Maker; you can learn new skills, enhance your CV, build confidence and meet new people, and give something back to sport or the local community.

“A number of local organisations have registered opportunities for Sport Makers such as the Lincoln 10k which is looking to recruit volunteers to help support the event. We want to recruit over 500 Sport Makers in Lincolnshire.”

To attend the workshop, you must be aged 16 years-old plus and registered as a Sport Maker online at www.sportmakers.co.uk

The workshop will take place on Tuesday 17th January 2012 at Bishop Grosseteste University College.
