MOTOR RACING

Podium finish for Jack

Bassingham racing driver Jack Harvey equalled his best race weekend of the year in Formula 3 with another podium finish.

The Series was at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps race circuit in Belgium and saw an extended grid as the British F3 drivers were joined by those competing for the FIA Formula 3 International Trophy.

In race one, Jack made a strong start and stayed on the back of Munoz, third placed Jaafar and second placed Buller right up until the checkered flag fell thirteen laps later, with less than 2.5 seconds covering the four cars. Crossing the finish line in fifth place overall and third place in the British F3 International Series, Jack picked up another twelve Championship points. He also came in sixth and fifth place in the other two races.

Jack says, “It’s encouraging to be coming away with another third, fifth and sixth place finish after we achieved the same in the last race weekend at Paul Ricard. However after the pace we had in free practice, qualifying and in race one it’s disappointing to not be coming away with more points. For some reason the pace of the car dropped off in the last two races and we’re currently analysing the data to find out the reasons. The car was handling so well during the first half of the weekend that it seems we may have been suffering with a problem we weren’t aware of.

“It’s great that we have carried the momentum of Nurburgring and Paul Ricard into this weekend, and now we must do the same for the last three race weekends of the season. With the run of strong results we have now moved up into eighth in the Championship so the aim for Rockingham will be to keep progressing and secure some more solid finishes."

Jack now heads to Rockingham for the next race on 3rd September, lying eighth in the Championship with 74 points.
