Staff shift gears as Astle BMW

Two employees at Astle BMW in Grimsby have moved up a gear and been promoted to their ideal roles.

Tony Heys (47), from Binbrook near Grimsby, has been appointed to Motorcycle Manager after 14 years working at the dealership. Formerly Body Shop Manager, Tony has a passion for bikes and is delighted with his new job.

“I have a real interest in bikes and it’s definitely something I’m passionate about,” said Tony. “I own a BMW GS and go on motorcycle tours in my spare time.

“I’ve been Body Shop Manager here for the last five years but it was because of my experience and my enthusiasm for the bikes that I was offered the position. It’s fantastic being able to work in an area you love.

“The dealership has also recently had a £600,000 refurbishment and the Motorrad showroom has been moved to a roadside position giving it great prominence.

“We also now have a larger used bike display area as well as a dedicated bike workshop which means we can offer an even better services to our Motorrad customers.”

Graham Lutwyche (42), who has worked at Astle BMW for four years as Senior Panel Technician on the shop floor, was presented with an offer of promotion to the position of Body Shop Manager after Tony’s move to Motorcycle Manager.

“The job was something that I would have wanted eventually but the chance came sooner than I expected. I didn’t need to be asked twice though!” said Graham. “It’s a great opportunity - a steep learning curve but we have an excellent team here and everyone pitches in.”

Graham, who is from Grimsby, will be responsible for overseeing daily work intake, giving estimates, managing the team and taking care of customers.

“It’s a really varied role and there’s a lot to learn but it’s great getting stuck in,” concluded Graham.
