City of Lincoln Council’s Executive’s are launching a community grant funding lottery to provide support for local voluntary community organisations in the city.
All funds raised will benefit local people and communities, with at least 50 per cent of the proceedings going to local causes.
The lottery will take place weekly costing £1 per ticket. Players will be able to choose six numbers from zero to nine, with the jackpot ticket having to match both the numbers and the sequence for the top cash prize of £25,000.
Players can also win a prize if their ticket matches the sequence of the first or last two, three, four or five numbers drawn. There are multiple smaller prizes on offer ranging between £25 and £2,000.
The lottery will launch in summer 2018, and the council encourages good causes to show interest in May 2018, when there will be further information required.
Cllr Ric Metcalfe, Leader of City of Lincoln Council, said: “The community grant funding lottery is an exciting project for City of Lincoln Council and will generate much needed support for voluntary organisations in the community.
“There are already 35 similar schemes across the country, with this being the first in Lincoln.
“The lottery will attract supporters who are looking to give to a good cause with an incentive of winning a reward.
“We hope to raise between £15,000 and £20,000 in the first year for community groups and organisations, with the possibility of significantly more as the lottery grows.”
