County firms urged to gear up for influx of tourists

With a new-look Lincoln Castle now less than a year away, local businesses are being helped to prepare for a tourism boost.

On Tuesday 23rd September the Countdown to Lincoln Castle Revealed conference will take place at the Epic Centre at the Lincolnshire Showground.

The all-day event will share the latest news from the £20m project and advise businesses what steps they can take now to enjoy the advantages the improvements will bring.

It’s also open to members of the public who want to learn more about the project.

Cllr Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economic Development, says: “Next year is a big one for Lincoln as the castle re-opens and we celebrate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta with a series of memorable events. These will attract thousands of visitors to the area, and we want to make sure local businesses are in pole position to reap the benefits.

“The impact of the castle improvements is likely to be felt across Lincolnshire, as tourists often stay in rural areas and visit other parts of the county during their time here. So wherever you are, come and find out how you can best prepare, and make sure your business doesn’t miss out.”

Tickets for the Countdown to Lincoln Castle Revealed conference cost £10 per person, including lunch.
