What makes Lincolnshire’s family businesses special?


Building on the success of the Family Business Lunch, hosted during Lincolnshire Business Week 2015, Streets Chartered Accountants, Andrew & Co LLP Solicitors and NatWest are launching the Lincolnshire Family Business Forum. It has been set up to support and promote Lincolnshire’s family businesses and also to help them deal with the challenges they face.

As part of this they are carrying out a survey to find out more about what makes Lincolnshire’s many and diverse family businesses special. The findings of the survey will be presented at the launch of the Lincolnshire Family Business Forum on Friday 26th February at Lindum Group. This event is open to our county’s family businesses and will include presentations from Mark Evans from Coutts and Helen Doughty from SHD Composite Materials Ltd. The Lincolnshire Family Business Forum will meet again at two further events throughout 2016.

James Pinchbeck, Marketing Partner at Streets Chartered Accountants, said: “Within Lincolnshire the overall number of family businesses making up the wider business sector is probably higher than other areas and possibly more diverse with sector engagement covering agriculture, engineering, food and drink, tourism and leisure and retail to name but a few.

“Through the survey we are looking to identify the key challenges faced by our county’s family businesses which may include aspects of succession and continuity through to say the introduction of non family members on to the board. We are also looking to understand more about the unique values they posses and what makes such businesses both resilient and responsive to changing economic and market conditions.

“Both the survey and its findings will play a key role in the development of the Lincolnshire Family Business Forum which aims to help promote and support these vital aspects of our local economy and its prosperity.”
