June 2016 sees Coleby’s Soapbox Grand Prix back with drivers shooting downhill in the village in nothing more than a modified soapbox.
The Coleby Downhill challenge returns for the second time on June 11th and 12th after the success 2014’s event, when some £1,400 was raised for charity.
This year, interest has already been high with over double the number of soapboxes, sidecars and gravity bikes already signing up for the event .
Organised by the Hykeham Lions Club and partners, in aid of local charities including LIVES, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
Organiser Jeff Harwood says: “We are almost full for applications for people to take part, but people can visit our website for more details or follow us on Facebook.
“It’s a really fun day for racers and spectators. The best way to describe it is ‘Lincolnshire’s own wacky races’ as we have seen some great soapboxes, in the past, including a Doctor Who postbox! ”
