Controlled explosion carried out at Stamp End, Lincoln after grenade spotted

A controlled explosion was carried out last night (26 January) at Stamp End, Lincoln after emergency services received a report of a suspected grenade in the area.

Police, EOD bomb disposal unit, East Midlands Ambulance, Fire and Rescue and other agencies came together to deal with the incident, and nearby premises were evacuated in order to protect the public.

The grenade was found by magnet fishermen earlier in the day.

At 23:30, a controlled explosion was successfully carried out, allowing residents to return to their homes.

Detective Superintendent Mark Kirwan said: “On behalf of all of the emergency services I would like to thank all the residents for their patience and support in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion.”
