The brand new health suite at Baysgarth Leisure Centre has officially opened following a £80,000 investment from the council.

The new modern health suite is located poolside and in addition to the eight person sauna and six person steam room, has a cold drench shower.

This health suite will complement the £1.5m plans to transform Baysgarth Leisure Centre into a community facility, bringing a range of services under one roof. This is expected to be completed in late spring 2019.

Some leisure centre users have already used the sauna and steam room, and they were very positive about their experiences.

Penny Golland from Barton-upon-Humber said: “The new sauna and steam room facilities are fantastic. They are an excellent and essential ‘add-on’ to the already lovely Baysgarth Leisure Centre!”

John Todd from Barton-upon-Humber said: “I have been a member at the leisure centre in Barton since it opened, and have long hoped that a sauna would be added to the facilities, now that time has come. I would like to say that the sauna and steam room are both excellent, the space available has been put to its best use.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all that have fought long and hard to get this for us, you should be very proud of your achievement, as we the members are. Well done and thank you all.”

Cllr David Rose, cabinet member for Children, Families, Learning and Leisure, said: “The brand new state-of-the-art health suite at Baysgarth Leisure Centre is a brilliant addition to the great facilities there. We’ve had fantastic feedback from members who have already used the sauna and steam room.

“We are committed to investing in community facilities like Baysgarth Leisure Centre to ensure we meet residents’ needs. With an extra £1.5m being invested to transform the leisure centre into a community facility, it will become a one-stop-shop for a whole range of services from health and fitness to information and advice.”
