North Lincolnshire Council is committed to helping small businesses across North Lincolnshire. Working with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), Cllr Rob Waltham and Helen Manderson Director Business Development have pledged to do more to support and grow our indigenous and small businesses.

This new relationship and pledge will support a massive step in the right direction to improve relationships between the council and small businesses.

North Lincolnshire Business Support team will work with indigenous and small businesses to access finance to develop, grow and diversify their businesses, through 1:1 support from our qualified business advisers.

Cllr Waltham said “Small businesses are vital in stimulating our economy today and provide job opportunities across a wide range of sectors.  They are the next big business that could be employee hundreds of people in years to come, so it is vital that we support them now to grow and prosper. These pledges demonstrate our commitment to doing just that.

“One of the things we are looking at is creating a small business lead, Cllr Paul Vickers, who will champion small businesses and work with them to ensure they have a voice as they play a key role in our local economy.”

The council will support the businesses with business plans, grant and finance applications.  They can also help them out with premise searches and relocation.

The council will work with the FSB to meet at least 20 small businesses a month.

The council working with FSB will host three workshops for FSB members a year. Subject matters for 2018 will be:

• North Lincolnshire’s Growth Plans
• Security and Fraud
• Funding and Grants

The council will work with the Place Marketing Board and North Lincolnshire Ambassadors to support opportunities for small businesses in the supply chain.

The council will lobby to create more grant funded support for small businesses to enable them to grow and prosper in North Lincolnshire.

FSB Development Manager, David Thorpe, said; “North Lincolnshire is already a great place to be in business and by adopting some of our recommendations North Lincolnshire Council can build upon the excellent work that they do. FSB Branch Leader Mike Johnson and I are delighted with the positive response from Cllr Waltham and his team following our recent meeting with them. We look forward to supporting the council’s action plan and seeing the benefits for local businesses take shape”

Helen Manderson Director Business Development said “We are looking forward to working with more small businesses in North Lincolnshire. We are committed to helping people to start small businesses in North Lincolnshire and giving support to existing small businesses to enable them to flourish and grow.”
