After 24 years of attendance, the committee who organise Boston Bike Night have decided to cancel the annual event over health concerns during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
A statement issued by the committee on their Facebook page over the weekend read: “It is with great regret that we have decided to cancel this years Bike Night. It has become apparent it would be impossible to hold the Bike Night maintain social distancing.
“Even if all restrictions are lifted by the 7th July, which is doubtful, the time available for organising is too short. We are also at a stage where we need to make some financial commitments which would be lost if the event were cancelled, thus putting future events in jeopardy.
“We hope to return bigger and better on the first Thursday in July in 2021.”
Boston Bike Night was established in 1996, and has developed into one of the largest biking showcase events in the east of the country, with bikers travelling from as far as Scotland and Cornwall to attend.
2021 sees the 25th anniversary of the event, and organisers have hinted that it is going to be a “huge celebration.”
