< PreviousEmugency over An emu on the run has been caught by wildlife groups after evading capture for weeks. Since given the name ‘Wiggles’, the bird had been spotted multiple times in Spilsby over the month before her rescue — though it is unknown when or from where she escaped. It took a week of building up trust, a temporary pen, and daily checks by volunteers before National Exotics Animal Rescue Service’s ’operation emu’ could commence, bringing together a team of more than 40 volunteers to catch the loose animal. With no owner having (at time of writing) stepped forward, Wiggles has now settled in with a foster family to recuperate ahead of going up for adoption. A niche collection A Lincoln man who says he doesn’t actually like crisps has amassed a major collection of vintage packets and memorabilia. The seventy-year-old started accumulating his collection five years ago, including long-lost brands, to now have over 100 crisp packets, with the oldest amongst them from the 70s. Speaking to the BBC, Frank shared: “I’ve never met any other crisp packet collector. I’d like to so we can exchange information and maybe packets.” Further crisp merchandise collected includes a set of Tudor Flutter-Byes — butterfly brooch pins that consumers could claim from the company. It follows a man earlier this year, said to possess the world’s largest crisp packet collection, announcing he would be retiring from his hobby. watercooler 70 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.net Have we missed anything? Send your rib-ticklers to m.fisher@blmgroup.co.uk By the An unorthodox time capsule A Stamford couple renovating their home have found a rather unorthodox time capsule behind a bricked-up fireplace. The old, empty cigarette packet was filled with coins, a golf tee, a key, and an ID card from its creator. A handwritten note asked whoever discovered the pack to find the man, Michael Whitehead: “If this is found over 30 years from now please find me if I’m alive - hope so.” The couple managed to track down Michael, who it turns out still lives locally, and reunite him with his capsule, which was buried in the 90s. © stock.adobe.com/satura_ © stock.adobe.com/sherryvsmith © stock.adobe.com/Ben GingellGET MORE OUT OF YOUR RETIREMENT Modern living, exclusively for the over 45s HOMES AVAILABLE NOW 25 ASHFIELD PARK | SONATA 46' X 12’ | 2 BEDROOM, 1 BATHROOM £149,950 27 KIRKSTEAD BRIDGE | HAYDEN 36’ X 12‘ | 1 BEDROOM, 1 BATHROOM £145,000 Discover the ultimate retirement lifestyle with our stunning homes in Scunthorpe and Woodhall Spa, both surrounded by beautiful countryside.
