Last month’s solution Lincolnshire Today’s guide to the astro month ahead... Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20 Emotionally you may be scouring your soul and changing your mind many times regarding a personal relationship but before you do something you are bound to regret, take a step back and think carefully about the consequences of your actions. Taurus Apr 21 - May 21 A new friend will either remain just a friend, or in some cases the situation could develop into a full on affair with a lot of meaning. Life is certainly not boring but it’s also important that you refrain from confiding in the wrong people. Gemini May 22 - June 21 Trying to juggle work and family will test your patience to the hilt but what has to be done, must be done. You are in no mood to listen to people who are full of excuses but of no use at all. Cancer Jun 22 - Jul 23 Trust your own ability to be brave, bold and adventurous, if not a little bit daring, regarding making a dream become a reality because there is serious money to be made if you put your mind to it. Leo Jul 24 - Aug 23 There are times when others may wish that you were a tad less fussy. It’s imperative you refuse point blank to lower your standards just to please a certain few and act upon your instincts, even if your decisions cause one or two people to walk away. Virgo Aug 24 - Sep 23 You may have to be cruel to be kind, but if you don’t look after your own health and wellbeing, no one else will. Remember, ‘what worries you, masters you’, so from now on, be your own person. Libra Sep 24 - Oct 23 Your patience will pay off because soon you will connect with some amazing new people and form relationships that will last you for all your days. A proposition needs careful consideration, because you may stand to lose money by acting hastily. Scorpio Oct 24 - Nov 22 Past experiences have tested your strength and sorted out the wheat from the chaff, which is why you are now raring to go in a completely different direction to the one you were heading for in the past. Sagittarius Nov 23 - Dec 21 Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. People and partners may find you uncharacteristically distant and aloof, but this is only because you have much on your mind and need time on your own to think more clearly. Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 20 The world is changing and you are changing with it which explains why you are no longer interested in certain people. Even though you may find work tedious, as long as you have dates lined up with interesting friends, you’ll survive just about anything. Aquarius Jan 21 - Feb 19 You’ve already had more than your fair share of disappointments and feel the price of sacrifice has been exceptionally high. Don’t feel sad over someone who gave up on you. Feel sorry for them because you would never have given up on them. Pisces Feb 20 - Mar 20 You will find the support you need amongst friends, but you may also be tempted to communicate with someone you have previously lost contact with. Sometimes friendships have to go their separate ways in order to reunite at a later point in time. 417539826 259876341 386214759 561983274 842751693 973642185 138425967 794168532 625397418 157628349 289314567 436759821 875463192 641592738 923187654 394875216 762931485 518246973 O2C2Tclassified British Classics Heritage Motors Parts 1948 to date Retail Trade Export Special Projects Restorations Manufacturing Modifications Country Workshops Risegate, Nr Spalding, Lincs, PE11 4EZ Classic Landrovers Tel/Fax 01775 750223 www.british4x4centre.co.uk Motors Stuart Wilde Photography Ltd The best photography is about much more than taking a picture. Shoppers and staff at a Co-op are being terrorised by the bird, named after the movie star Russell, who perches ready to chase people with their loaded bags. One woman was said by the BBC to be so scared to leave the store that she will ask staff to pinpoint the crow’s whereabouts before exiting. Promoting false accusations, Russell is further reported to have caused issues in the community by making a mess outside the shop, pecking items from a bin, with his actions initially incorrectly blamed on bored teenagers. Russell clearly thinks he rules the roost. Mystery in a bottle After heritage works in Cleethorpes uncovered a mysterious, liquid-filled bottle, months of assessment have finally unveiled the secret of what it contains! Studied by an Undergraduate student at the University of Lincoln, Zara Yeates has been using UV lights and X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF) to determine what’s in the glass and what the glass itself is made of. Sharing her findings she said: “After countless tests using UV light and X-rays, we believe we may have discovered what’s in the bottle. We can now say, almost definitively, that it is urine.” With 1800s Cleethorpes filled with coming and going sailors, it turns out that a common occurrence at this time was to bury a bottle of urine as a superstition for a safe journey home. These bottles, however, rarely survive, let alone over 200 years. Zara is now hoping to learn more about the glass itself to work out where and when the bottle was made. watercooler 62 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.net Have we missed anything? Send your rib-ticklers to m.fisher@blmgroup.co.uk By the A medieval pub game Rival North Lincolnshire villages went to battle once again last month for an annual medieval pub game. Dating back to the 14th century, the historic sport ‘Haxey Hood’ starts with a speech from a ceremonial fool stood in front of a bonfire, before participants scramble to push a leather tube (the ‘Hood’) thrown to the crowd to their favourite of four local pubs in Haxey and Westwoodside. The strange, rugby-style romp is one of the oldest local traditions in the country. The game is said to have begun after Lady de Mowbray lost her silk riding hood as she rode between Haxey and Westwoodside. Delighted by seeing locals chasing after it, she is said to have granted them land on the condition that the event was re-enacted annually. This year’s winner was The Loco in Haxey, which will now proudly display the prize for the entire of 2025. © stock.adobe.com/Elena © stock.adobe.com/serhii Image courtesy of North East Lincolnshire CouncilTHINKING ABOUT APPRENTICESHIPS?
