Light clothing with layering options to add or remove as needed is important here too, but always make sure long- sleeved shirts, trousers and wide-brimmed hats are worn wherever possible to safeguard as much skin as you can. Though it’s easy to forget these details, or tempting to put off sun protection procedure when you’re out having fun, clothing should always be considered while avoiding the peak sun hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. It’s also worth checking any medication’s side effects, as some can increase sunburn risk or sun sensitivity. When everybody is hydrated and sun protected, all that’s left to do is check on vulnerable and old folks in your care regularly. Look out for signs of heat exhaustion, such as confusion, dizziness and dehydration, especially during heat waves. If you’re worried for someone’s health, the best course of action is always to ask a medical professional or call 111 for advice, to gauge any action that may be needed on your part. Bearing all this in mind, do still help and support them in enjoying bright and sunny days where they can. Being there to lend a hand with household tasks that take effort, such as carrying shopping or gardening, is the kind of simple gesture that’s important to free your loved one up to enjoy the warm weather. You might help by reaching out to arrange visits with friends and family members, as social isolation can be a risk factor for heat-related illness or offer to help them arrange social outings or phone calls with loved ones. Knowing you have a sturdy plan for every outcome, urgent or minor, means you can make time for getting out there with anyone you have a care responsibility for. Being out in nature and getting that all-important natural dose of Vitamin D the sunshine brings is crucial for anyone to thrive, in both mental and emotional health. So don’t hide anyone you’re caring for indoors for fear of hot weather or the damage it might cause, unless there are outstanding health reasons they should stay inside. For most of us it’s bound to feel worse being stuck by a fan when we could be out making the most of the day. It’s no different for our elderly and vulnerable, so whatever you’re going to be up to, enjoy the outdoors. As long as you’re properly prepared, you can afford to prescribe yourselves a good dose of fun this summer. 72 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20 A new lover could soon appear on the horizon that is far more in tune with your needs and desires than anyone you have previously been involved with. Sharing the tale on Instagram, the former I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! winner, X-Factor finalist and Loose Women panellist revealed how she kept expressing her love for Hull while taping the show and chatting with locals — the only problem was, she was in Lincolnshire. Stacey said that at the end of most of the conversations she had, she would repeat: “Do you know what? Everyone is so friendly. I love Hull. It’s the friendliest place.” It was only after sitting down for lunch that Stacey was asked: “Why do you keep telling everyone you love Hull?” To which she responded: “Because I love Hull, look how nice it is, there’s so many nice people.” It was then she was told: “We’re in Lincolnshire.” Stacey explained that she’d read the wrong date in her diary, with filming later scheduled in Hull, got up, fell asleep in the car, and assumed she woke up in the city. She added: “I basically have told everybody in Lincolnshire that I love Hull...everybody will be thinking ‘ok good for you, what about Lincolnshire’?” watercooler 74 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.net Have we missed anything? Send your rib-ticklers to m.fisher@blmgroup.co.uk By the Your very own zoo The idea of opening a zoo seems to be something we all dream about at some point in our childhood, but what if that fantasy could become a reality? And what if it could be achieved right here in our home county of Lincolnshire? After sadly closing last year, the former Jungle Zoo in Cleethorpes has made its way on the market, and while those handling the letting of the site note that the property “would readily adapt to a variety of alternative uses,” who wouldn’t want to embody Matt Damon, run home to the family and exclaim “we bought a zoo!” An act of kindness A Spalding family have been left horrified after their young son was overcome with generosity. Upon discovering hundreds of pounds in a drawer at home, intended for his sister’s driving lessons, the boy placed the money in his schoolbag. Looking to do something kind for his friends, he handed out the cash during playtime, leaving his parents scrambling to recover the £20 and £10 notes. Helping spread the word, the primary school said the child had been inspired by the generosity seen on social media channels, and wanted to do something nice, secretly dishing out over £500 to a number of fellow pupils, not fully realising the value of the money or the implications of his actions. © stock.adobe.com/famveldman © stock.adobe.com/ Dmitry Lobanov © stock.adobe.com/PX MediaHERE T hl E h WER ET WE’RE hl TO hlh R TO RE hlhelhelhlphphlp .hopkins-solicitors.cowww enquiries.commercial@hopkins-solicitors 0115 906 896 o.uk s.co.uk 64 e is one of thsatisfaction scor e may not be a big national laW Y RECOMLYHIGHL e highest in the UK! aw firm but our client MMENDED egunr Is your ed?gister land stil ? lPescod Square is a shopping district in the very heart of Boston.
