The new XPOWER model features a highly anticipated dual motor powertrain delivering 435PS and up to 600Nm of torque, positioning the latest MG4 model alongside the most potent high- performance hatchbacks on the market. LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY 73 EQUINE © Jon Stroud Media © Trevor Holt / Kingfisher Media Services G rowing up on the family farm and attending local schools, Kidgate Primary and King Edwards Grammar School in Louth, and with two older sisters and a tennis playing father, competition and ponies were a big part of Ros’ childhood, with her first memories being those of hacking out around the farm with her family in the Lincolnshire countryside. Alongside being an enthusiastic hockey player, tennis player and runner, Ros also loved schooling her young ponies to compete in Pony Club events, being a member of Southwold North Pony Club. Then, after gaining a Sports Science degree at Sheffield Hallam University, Ros worked for renowned event horse producer, Judy Bradwall, returning home to Hallington four years later. Competing at the Nations Cup, Ireland, is one of her first, most memorable achievements, and it was then, with Allstar B, a huge horse carrying the petite 5’2” Ros, that Ros’ career really took off with her first major successes, catapulting Ros into the exciting and very demanding sport of international 3-day eventing. Her 2017, 5th place finish at Badminton Horse Trials with Allstar B – where she was also best British and highest placed lady rider – earned the pair a place on the British team in Poland, and then in 2018 after Ros and Allstar B took 3rd place at Badminton the pair then made the flight to the United States to the FEI Equestrian World Championship Games where an immaculate dressage score for the pair resulted in both a team gold medal and the individual gold for them. After the Covid lockdown, in 2021, Ros posted excellent results across all levels and competitions and was selected for the European Championships, with Ros being part of the successful gold medal team, and this year she won the famous 5* Badminton Horse Trials for the first time on Lordships Graffalo. Last year Ros got married at South Elkington Church to her husband Chris McAleese, with her daughter, Ziggy, now four years old, in attendance – Ros was back in the saddle two weeks after giving birth and then returned to full time competition exactly one month after giving birth! Ros feels she has always remained grounded and states: “I am incredibly lucky to be based at Hallington (in Lincolnshire) today, with such supportive and forward thinking parents…mum not only spends hours every day helping me but she has developed her livery business and so our facilities are superb.” She adds: “I continue to love my sport...and I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.” Ros competed with Pencos Crown Jewel, her other horse, last year at Lincolnshire’s own magnificent 5* event, Burghley Horse Trials - acknowledged globally by many leading riders as their ultimate competitive goal. They came in at an impressive 11th place, and with Ros on the same horse this year she hopes to succeed by finishing a few places higher - either way, good luck to Ros at Burghley and all her up and coming endeavours. 74 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY what’s Grantham September 2 Hey Beatles: Live - Guildhall Arts Centre Nationally acclaimed tribute ‘Hey Beatles’ make their return to the Guildhall playing a two hour set of some of the greatest pop hits of all time!
