< PreviousWork starts on site to build two new Lincolnshire primary schools Yorkshire construction firm, Hobson & Porter, has started on sites in Waltham and Scartho, to build two new primary schools that will open in September 2025. The primary schools, which are being funded by North East Lincolnshire Council, the Department for Education and through Section 106 contributions, will be run by Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust (LGAT). The projects, based on Matthew Telford Park in Scartho, and on land off Sunningdale in Waltham, received planning approval at the start of the year. Joe Booth from Hobson & Porter said: “We have a long and successful track record in the education sector, across both Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, but it’s still always an exciting moment to start work on new-build school projects, which will inevitably become valuable assets within their respective communities.” Both schools will have 210-pupil places, including specialist provision for 12 students with special educational needs and disabilities. latest news East Lindsey businesses warned about new ‘licence expiry’ scam Businesses in the East Lindsey area of Lincolnshire are being alerted to a new scam being attempted in the area, where fraudsters posing as Council officials claim alcohol licences are about to expire. A spokesman for the Licensing Officers of South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership said: “The scam involves individuals falsely claiming that your Alcohol Premises Licence is running out or expiring. This is incorrect, as alcohol licences do not expire or run out. Any annual licence fees due will be handled by the Council through the usual annual invoice/reminder process. “These fraudsters can seem very convincing, sometimes having accurate information such as the fee amount or the names of real Council staff. If you’re ever in doubt about someone claiming to be from the Council, contact your local council directly to verify their identity. “We are committed to protecting our local businesses from fraudulent activities. Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to ensure the safety and integrity of our community.” North Lincolnshire Council is spearheading an ambitious proposal to establish a Green Growth Zone and create thousands of green engineering jobs. The proposal focuses on further enhancing the renewable energy sector, fast-tracking advanced manufacturing and driving innovation to create more high-skilled jobs and secure the long-term prosperity of the region. The Green Growth Zone will further position North Lincolnshire at the heart of the UK’s renewable energy revolution, driving development across Greater Lincolnshire and the Humber region by building upon the region’s strategic assets, including major renewable resources such as offshore wind, an established industrial base, and strong links to international markets via major ports. Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is about more than just infrastructure; it’s about creating a better future for communities. The Green Growth Zone is an ambitious plan to deliver high-quality jobs, drive innovation, and secure new opportunities for residents. “While we are still at the proposal stage, the ambition is clear – North Lincolnshire will be a place where green energy and advanced manufacturing lead the way, offering sustainable futures for generations to come.” Photo courtesy of Jon Corken Green Growth Zone proposal to create conditions for thousands of jobs © stock.adobe.com/Nicola © stock.adobe.com/Studio Romantic*HWLQWRXFKWRȴQGRXWPRUHRUDUUDQJHDYLVLW www.tingdene-parks.net | 01933 427815 | info@tingdene.net High-quality, low-maintenance, single-storey homes Safe, secure community of like-minded residents Private garden and parking No stamp duty Part exchange and assisted move options available 2FFXS\LQJDTXLHWVSRWRQWKHRXWVNLUWVRI6FXQWKRUSH$VKȴHOG 3DUNHQMR\VYLHZVRYHUWKHFRXQWU\VLGH\HWLVRQO\DIHZPLQXWHV IURPDOOWKHHYHU\GD\DPHQLWLHV\RXFRXOGQHHGSOXVDKRVWRI OHLVXUHRS portunities. 0RYHLQWRDEUDQGQHZIXOO\IXUQLVKHGKRPHDQGHQMR\ the best RIWRZQDQGFRXQWU\OLYLQJ<RXFRXOGDOVRIUHHXSFDVKVDYHRQ ELOOVDQGKDYHOHVVKRPHPDLQWHQDQFH6RZKHWKHU\RXȇUHUHWLULQJ VHPLUHWLULQJRUVLPSOLQJORRNLQJWREHSDUWRIDZDUPDQG ZHOFRPLQJFRPPXQLW\\RXUHDOO\FDQȴQGWKHOLIHVW\OH\RXȇYH DOZD\VZDQWHGLQDSODFHWKDW\RXȇOOORYH Freedom to live life to the full. Since airlifting its very first patient on 13 May 1994, LNAA has provided a life- saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for the communities of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and is on target to respond to its 30,000th mission in the coming weeks. CEO, Karen Jobling, said: “Our remarkable charity has come a long way since its beginnings in 1994, when we operated out of a temporary building and could only get to patients if there was money in the bank to fuel up the old ex-police Bolköw helicopter.” Thirty years later LNAA now responds, on average, to four missions a day. Its state-of-the-art helicopter and two critical care cars enable crews to give the very best treatments, day and night, to some of the most seriously ill and injured patients when they need it most, ensuring the patient has the best possible outcome. Shaun knows only too well how vital the service is, especially to people living in rural and coastal communities. Thirty years ago, he was one of the first patients to be airlifted to hospital by Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance and says the speed which the helicopter flew him from Boston Pilgrim Hospital to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre, saved his life. Shaun was six years old when his heart stopped beating not once but three times. The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance team ensured he received the specialist care he so desperately needed. It was July 1994 and Shaun was with his family shopping in Skegness when he suddenly slipped and banged his head causing a seizure. He was rushed to Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital where doctors fought to stabilise him each time his heart stopped beating. Due to the seriousness of his injuries the medical team decided he needed to be transferred immediately to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC). The two-hour journey by road ambulance from Boston was too risky for the young boy and so Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance were called. In less than 30 minutes, they had safely airlifted Shaun to QMC where he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. He remained in hospital for three weeks, the first week in an induced coma. Shaun said: “If they hadn’t flown me from Pilgrim Hospital to Queen’s Medical Centre I probably would have died.” LNAA also responds to missions by critical care car, especially in urban areas where it is hard to land the helicopter, or if it is quicker than by helicopter to get to the incident. In October 2023, Police officer Tony Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance celebrates 30 years of saving lives LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY 13 LINCS & NOTTS AIR AMBULANCE was driving to his home near Sleaford, chatting to his three-year-old daughter, Poppy who sat in the back of the car. They had just passed LNAA’s HQ on the A15 when they were involved in a collision with another vehicle. The LNAA crew arrived within 11 minutes in one of the critical care cars. Similar to the helicopter, the car carries life-saving drugs and all the equipment needed to treat critically injured patients at the roadside. Doctor Adam Chesters said: “Tony and Poppy were trapped in the car. We could see Tony was in a bad way and Poppy was clearly distressed and shouting for daddy to wake up.” Once crew from Lincoln Fire and Rescue Service had cut the rear doors off the car, Adam treated Poppy for her injuries and carried her to safety, staying with her until the road ambulance arrived to take her Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre. Tony had severe damage to both legs and multiple cuts and bruises to his head. The LNAA team monitored him constantly while he was being freed from the car. He was also taken to QMC in a separate road ambulance, where he had emergency surgery and metal rods inserted into his right leg. “LNAA were brilliant. No one wants to see them, but it is so good to know they are there and needed so badly when things go wrong,” said Tony. The 30th Anniversary of the charity’s service is a celebration as well as a reflection on how far it has come. Karen said: “We receive no direct government funding and have only come this far thanks to the incredible supporters in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. As we reflect on how we have made a positive impact on the lives of so many people, we are reminded that we must ensure that LNAA continues to be by the side of patents for the next 30 years. We thank all our supporters for their past and future support.” www.ambucopter.org.uk Shaun as a boy Tony and his family meeting Dr Chesters14 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY HOMES A serene barn conversion A serene barn conversion LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY 15 HOMES Stunning countryside views and a pristine barn conversion await at this month’s featured property.
