Council advances 50-home affordable scheme in Birchwood

City of Lincoln Council has secured conditional planning permission for a 50-unit affordable housing scheme at Jasmin Green in Birchwood, marking progress in its programme to expand modern, energy-efficient council homes across the city.

Daren Turner, Director of Housing and Investment, said:
“Securing conditional planning permission for Jasmin Green is another step forward in our commitment to delivering high-quality, 100% affordable homes for the people of Lincoln, which is a key element of the council’s Housing Revenue Account 30-year business plan.

“With demand for these types of homes growing in Lincoln, developments like this play an important role in meeting local housing needs.

“We have worked carefully and closely with our partners and the local community to develop a thoughtful and responsive scheme that has been shaped to deliver sustainable, resilient homes that will benefit our communities for many years to come.”

The development is planned with BPM-Architecture Ltd and Belvin Construction. Site work is scheduled to begin in spring 2026, with completion targeted for autumn 2027. The mix comprises 24 houses, eight flats and 18 bungalows, all intended for council ownership and allocation through the authority’s established policy.

All homes will be built to EPC A standards and fitted with solar panels, battery storage, air source heat pumps, enhanced insulation and EV charging points. All 18 bungalows and four ground-floor flats are designed for full wheelchair accessibility. The layout retains existing pedestrian links to support access to nearby facilities.

Ecological and landscape measures form part of the approved plans to ensure the site integrates effectively with the surrounding neighbourhood.
