Spalding February 11 Where is Mrs. Christie? - South Holland Centre Agatha Christie was one of the greatest thriller writers of all time. In 1926, she was at the centre of a mystery as perplexing as any of her fiction, a series of events which sparked one of the biggest and most extensive police hunts in history. Her crashed car was discovered in Surrey and the famous author was missing, presumed dead by many, for eleven days. However, she was eventually found at a luxury hotel in Harrogate. She claimed then, and for the rest of the life, that she was suffering from amnesia and remembered nothing. Neither the press nor the police believed her. Actor Liz Grand presents her one-woman show ‘Where Is Mrs. Christie?’ Did Agatha Christie lie, and if so why? Spalding February 13 Pinocchio - South Holland Centre Puppetry, shadows, illusion, and specially composed music combine to create a show with something for all ages; it’s inventive, visually and verbally witty with a big heart. Steve Tiplady, as Geppetto, uses the objects of a carpenter’s workshop to tell the tale of the puppet that wants to be a real boy, and the puppet-maker who wants to be a real father. Pinocchio is carved on stage, brushes become a fox and the shadow of two saws transforms into a giant shark. An element of improvisation makes each performance unique to its audience. 68-71.qxp_Layout 1 23/01/2023 10:18 Page 3THIS SPRING AT THE PALACE THEATRE NEWARK Ministry of Science Live Wednesday 15th February 7.30pm £18, £17 Concession, £66 Family An Evening with Sir Geoff Hurst Monday 20th February 7.30pm £31. Simon Le Boggit’s take on the mysterious monument comes as part of an exhibition by arts charity Outside In, which provides a platform for artists overlooked due to health, disability, social circumstance, or isolation. The kidney stones were harvested over several years of treatment before being placed inside a glass dome, with the piece intended to highlight the dedication shown by the caring staff of the NHS. watercooler 74 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.net Have we missed anything? Send your rib-ticklers to m.fisher@blmgroup.co.uk By the Potty-mouthed potholes The potholes on a Lincolnshire road have stirred up quite the reaction from a local resident in Ancaster, pushing them over the edge to write up their complaints…directly on the road itself! Those living on the street awoke to spray painted messages, some containing expletives, pointing to the number of potholes on the road, stating “fix me,” and “do me again” next to poorly filled areas on Ermine Street. Alongside the messages were also jokes that the graffiti artist was “gonna run out of paint” and getting “bored now.” According to the BBC, some locals welcomed the graffiti, calling it “quite funny” and hoping that it gets the attention of the county council, who themselves, oddly, did not see the messages in as positive a light, stating that repairs were due to be carried out in March. © stock.adobe.com/mbruxelle Lost and found What do a commercial lease to a Turkish restaurant, a set of false teeth, a large whole smoked sea bass, and a rainforest terrarium have in common? They all represent just a handful of the bizarre items left behind in Lincolnshire hotels in 2022. With guests often rushing from A to B, or feeling forgetful, Travelodge recently revealed its lost and found inventory for the last year, with even more peculiar treasures found elsewhere in the country. And what a sickener it must have been for the person arriving home without their suit of armour, bill of sale for a boat called ‘Oh Buoy’, antique stained glass window, or their two Persian kittens!
